Landscape Maintenance And Beautification
Keeping Fulton Industrial Boulevard Clean, Safe and Vibrant
Commercial property owners and other stakeholders identified landscape maintenance and litter control as a key motivation in forming a CID in 2010. Throughout prior years, there were no sustained efforts to provide for beautification and improved curb appeal across the entire District. Landscaping and debris cleanup became an immediate priority, and today the CID is responsible for the appearance and upkeep of Fulton Industrial Boulevard from Aviation Circle to just south of Westgate Parkway and Great Southwest Parkway.
Since 2012, the CID has committed more than $350,000 annually to beautify and keep the entire District visually appealing. Landscaping maintenance and litter removal account for approximately 10 miles of roadways, medians, and shoulders. Landscaping professionals manage 2.8 million square feet of turfgrass – as much as 49 professional football fields – and apply 340,000 square feet of pine straw every year, which is enough to cover 72 professional basketball courts. At the same time, crews collect an average of 3,120 bags of litter and trash per year, enough to fill seven backyard swimming pools.
