Project Overview
Strengthening the Corridor’s Identity
The Fulton Industrial CID is planning a gateway enhancement at the high-traffic intersection of Fulton Industrial Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The project is designed to strengthen corridor identity, improve the visitor experience and create a more welcoming entrance into both the Fulton Industrial district and the city of Atlanta.
This intersection plays an important role in shaping first impressions. It is located near the Fulton County Executive Airport, which serves business travelers and other visitors, and it sits near important cultural, economic and transportation connections. A stronger gateway will help people understand when they have arrived in the district and will reinforce the professional image of the corridor.
Gateway Signage and Wayfinding
The project includes a gateway monument sign and wayfinding elements that will support a more cohesive theme along the 11-mile Fulton Industrial Boulevard corridor. Streetscape elements include upgraded sidewalks, landscaped buffers, decorative pedestrian lighting and public-art opportunities. These improvements are intended to create a safer, more attractive and more memorable experience while preserving efficient traffic flow.
Streetscaping and Public Art
Public art is an important part of the project’s placemaking purpose. Sculptural installations, layered landscaping and hardscape elements can help show that Fulton Industrial is not only a center of transportation and logistics, but also a place of innovation, creativity and community pride. The project also creates a natural visual connection to the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum & Conference Center, located just north of the intersection.
