Improving Mobility and Connectivity in the District

Transportation and Infrastructure Improvement

As the largest industrial corridor in the eastern United States and a major contributor to the metro Atlanta region’s economy, keeping business moving – at all times of the day – is critical. Thus, the CID is constantly anticipating and planning for the future needs of property and business owners in the district. Through partnerships with local and state agencies, the CID identifies transportation and infrastructure projects that are necessary to improve freight and vehicular accessibility, mobility and safety within the district.

Since the completion of the original Fulton Industrial Master Plan in 2013, the CID has leveraged public funding and undertaken many projects that otherwise would have taken decades to complete. Building on the momentum of the Master Plan, the CID recently completed a Fulton Industrial Boulevard Sustainability Framework and, prior to that, a Freight Cluster Plan. These plans evaluate and identify strategies for creating a clean-energy infrastructure for the freight and logistics industry along with publicly accessible options. The Sustainability Framework also offers solutions for truck parking and transit access, and implementation steps for streetscape and placemaking improvements that aim to enhance the character, sustainability and safety of the corridor.

While significant transportation and infrastructure improvements have been made over the past decade, the CID continues to look toward the future, ensuring that the district remains one of the leading and most innovative industrial corridors in the United States.
