I-285 Westside Express Lanes Project
GDOT’s proposed I-285 Westside Express Lanes project aims to improve mobility and ease congestion by adding two optional, barrier-separated lanes in each direction adjacent to the existing lanes on I-285 West in Cobb and Fulton counties. The express lanes would improve commute times for those working in and visiting the district.
Current Status
GDOT is currently conducting studies for the proposed project, including assessing impacts on environmental resources to help determine preliminary alignments, express lanes configuration and access points. Public information open houses were held in October 2025 and in February 2026, GDOT responded to all questions and comments received through a PIOH Comment Response Letter.
