Sustainability Plan
A Sustainability Framework for the Fulton Industrial District
The Fulton Industrial CID tagline is “Fast Moving. Forward Thinking.” With an eye always on the future, the CID in 2024 began a more-than year-long process to develop a comprehensive plan to:
- Evaluate and develop strategies for clean energy infrastructure for the freight and logistics industry, including determining options accessible to the public.
- Identify potential solutions or improvements related to truck parking and transit access.
- Develop concepts and implementation steps for streetscape and placemaking improvements to enhance the character, sustainability and safety of the corridor.
The Fulton Industrial Sustainability Framework builds on previous initiatives including the CID’s Freight Cluster Plan and District Master Plan.
Development of the plan involved numerous district stakeholders, government representatives and a multi-disciplinary team of consultants. The report was developed in three phases including an initial needs assessment and concept and priority development based on stakeholder feedback. The final phase focused on the development of specific concepts, project recommendations, cost estimates and proposed implementation timing and projects.
By combining investments in clean-energy infrastructure with placemaking, the Fulton Industrial Sustainability Framework aims to attract talent, support innovation and cultivate community pride within the CID.
The key feature that makes this plan more than just a study is its implementation focus. The report includes an action plan that addresses in detail how and when each project could be implemented based on funding and grant opportunities. Many projects recommended by the plan can be implemented quickly, with several clean-energy initiatives discussed in the plan already underway.
