Fulton Industrial Boulevard Intersection Improvements
Project Overview
Building on the recommendations of the Fulton Industrial Master Plan, the CID embarked on an effort to improve the operations, increase safety, and enhance access in the most traveled section of the Fulton Industrial corridor. To fund the project, the CID partnered with GDOT and secured a $460,000 grant from Georgia’s State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) for four key intersection improvements:
- I-20 West Bound Off-ramp @ Fulton Industrial Boulevard
- I-20 East Bound On-ramp @ Fulton Industrial Boulevard
- Shirley Drive @ Fulton Industrial Boulevard
- Commerce Circle @ Fulton Industrial Boulevard
The upgrades included new and improved vehicular and pedestrian traffic signals and enhanced pedestrian services with new sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps and crosswalks. Operational improvements included improved turning radii for trucks at intersections, curb repair, median modifications to improve traffic flow. The CID, partnering with SRTA and the Georgia Department of Transportation, began working in 2015 and finished in 2016, investing a total of $800,000 for vehicle access and pedestrian safety at the front door of the District.
